Abstract

In opposite to ordinary buildings, like dwelling houses or office blocks, greenhouses additionally require a large amount of cooling energy. However cooling systems design highly depends on local weather conditions as well as building operation. This requires extensive scrutinizing. This paper describes a combined approach to model and simulate building operation and HVAC system behavior of a research greenhouse with Modelica. This includes the presentation of some important modelling paradigms as well as system concept validation with some interesting simulation results.
